Thank you for considering Retreat on Jekyll, #208 at Villas By The Sea. This villa is perfect for couples, small families, and solo adventurers.

Retreat is decorated in an informal ocean and lighthouse decor. The owner is a lifelong visitor to Jekyll and an author who focuses on educating about the natural wonders, history, and adventures that Jekyll offers. The decor reflects her love of nature and the island.

Beautiful live oak trees surround the building in both front and back.

Retreat is conveniently located approximately 150 yards from the beautiful Driftwood Beach and across the road from Horton Pond, a natural habitat that's perfect for bird watching and seeing other wildlife.

Villas features an onsite, solar-heated pool with a children's play area. The gym and children's playground with its signature pirate ship are just outside the back door. It's just a short walk, about 100 yards, to dining at the Driftwood Bistro, the very popular on-site restaurant.

Retreat's entrance is ground floor and handicap parking is very close by. Usually you're able to park right in front of the building. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed along with a full-size hide-a-bed in the couch.

The bathroom includes a large step-in shower with a seat inside to make life easier for those who need to sit while bathing. The full-sized kitchen includes coffee maker, stove top, microwave oven, refrigerator with freezer, electric can opener, and coffee maker. Ice machines are located throughout the property. A large dining room table, two flat screened TVs, and a small reading library are included as well. The library includes books for children.

Retreat's sliding glass back door has light blocking curtains. It opens up to a small covered patio and continues out to the pirate themed playground.

Quite Disappointing

"A complete renovation is needed for this condo. The furniture reminds me of a yard sale or thrift store vibe from the 70's or 80's. I thoroughly disinfected the space with Lysol. The coffee pot was outdated and dingy looking; I would not put pond water in that coffee pot. It will require you to purchase filters and coffee grinds, a total waste of money for short stays. I ended up traveling to the nearest Walmart and purchasing a Keurig The sofa bed cushions were sunken, no way I would sit on it, let alone sleep on it. The iron is old, leaked water, and burned my blazer. Of course, the stain is irremovable The entrance to the space was not clean. There was no keyless access; therefore, I was given a traditional, metal key with a message written on a torn sheet of copy paper noting that someone would be contacting me about this concern and that the key I had was the only key. I was not contacted, so I visited the Parker-Kaufman office to inquire about the keyless access. While explaining my concern with only one metal key to gain access to the cottage, one of the agents interrupted and exclaimed that I could go somewhere else to stay. I explained that if I lost the one key, there would not be a replacement, and I did not want to have such a responsibility. There is nowhere to store non-perishable items because all of the cabinets are locked or loaded with dinnerware. I have stayed at the Villas in the past and had no problems. This stay, managed by Parker-Kaufman, was a nigntmare with poor customer service. I gave a 2 because the stove was up-to-date, but I did not use it. I strongly suggest not using this Villa 208 and if you stay at Villas by the Sea book through Villas by the Sea and not an outside agency like Parker-Kaufman. It makes a difference.

"We were very please with this villa. It was clean, comfortable and we loved our time there. My wife has diamentia and being in a strange place did not upset her. I will probably be there next year.
