When you’re vacationing on Jekyll Island, you have to spend some time on the water. Whether you’re looking to work on your tan or get involved in some watersports, the beaches of Jekyll Island have it all! One of the best ways to experience the water is through Jekyll Island fishing. Booking a fishing charter is perfect for all skill levels and will pair you with an experienced captain for an amazing journey. Here are three of the most popular fishing charters near our Jekyll Island vacation rentals.
Jekyll Island Fishing
Whether you’re looking for shallow water fishing or inshore/nearshore trips, Jekyll Island Fishing offers them both. You’ll be provided with everything you need for an incredible fly or spin experience. Everyone has the chance to catch fish like sharks, tarpon, redfish, crevalle, and more, no matter your skill level!
Captain Griffin Wood will be your guide from his 24’ Islamorada boat powered by a 300hp Yamaha. Your rods and tackle are included with your charter, as well as fishing licenses and ice for your catches. A 4-hour excursion starts at $400 for two anglers with an additional $100 charge per hour up to 6 hours. Groups of almost any size can be accommodated.
Bracewell Charters
The fishing trips available from Bracewell Charters are the perfect way to get on the water. Your four-hour excursion is long enough to have a great time but short enough to easily fit into your itinerary.
Captain Jaime Bracewell is locally known for being an incredible fisherman and will always ensure your group has an awesome time!
In addition to the four-hour fishing trips, you might also be interested in a 2- to 4-hour fossil hunting excursion or a combo trip that includes 2 hours of fishing and 2 hours of fossil hunting. Tours require a minimum of two people and can accommodate a maximum of six people. Fossil hunting trips start at $250, combo trips start at $300, and fishing trips start at $350.
Coastal Expeditions
With a fishing charter from Coastal Expeditions, you’ll be in the capable hands of Captain Eric Moody. Captain Eric is U.S. Coast Guard-licensed and has been working in his native Jekyll Island for 10 years. He loves taking groups of all kinds out on the water, whether you’ve got complete beginners or advanced anglers. You’ll be given the chance to catch speckled sea trout, flounder, redfish, Spanish mackerel, and so much more! You can also visit Coastal Expeditions for a dolphin tour or sightseeing trip.
All trips are private charters with a maximum of six people. Your bait, tackle, ice, and fishing licenses will be provided, and if you’d like to keep the fish you catch, Captain Eric will clean them for you. Trips happen daily and leave from Jekyll Harbor Marina.
